SnapSecure Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 5, 2026
SnapSecure is designed as a local screenshot tool. It lets you crop, annotate, copy, and save screenshots from the active browser tab. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share personal information.
Summary
- SnapSecure runs on your device.
- Screenshots are processed in memory in the active tab.
- No screenshots, page content, URLs, annotations, or usage events are uploaded.
- SnapSecure does not use analytics, telemetry, advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party services.
- SnapSecure does not use extension storage, browser local storage, IndexedDB, cookies, or a remote database.
Information SnapSecure Processes
When you click the extension icon or use the SnapSecure keyboard shortcut, SnapSecure may temporarily process:
- A screenshot image of the visible area of the active tab.
- The crop area you select.
- Any annotations you draw before saving or copying the screenshot.
This information is used only to provide the screenshot, crop, annotation, save, and copy features you requested.
Information SnapSecure Does Not Collect
SnapSecure does not collect or store:
- Personal information such as name, email address, account identifiers, or contact details.
- Browsing history.
- Page text, form entries, passwords, cookies, or authentication tokens.
- Screenshot files or screenshot metadata.
- Analytics, telemetry, crash reports, or behavioral events.
- Advertising identifiers or tracking data.
Local Processing and Retention
Screenshots exist only temporarily in browser memory while the SnapSecure overlay is open. When you save, copy, discard, press Esc, close the overlay, or start a new capture session, SnapSecure removes its overlay and clears its in-memory canvas buffers so the image data is released for browser garbage collection.
If you choose to save a screenshot, the resulting PNG file is downloaded through the browser's normal download behavior and is then controlled by you, your browser, and your operating system. If you choose to copy a screenshot, the PNG is written to your system clipboard and is then controlled by your browser and operating system clipboard behavior.
SnapSecure itself does not keep a copy after the save or copy action completes.
Network Use
SnapSecure does not make network requests. It has no remote endpoint and does not send screenshot data, page data, or usage data to any server.
Permissions
SnapSecure requests only the permissions needed to provide its core features:
activeTab: Allows SnapSecure to capture the currently active tab only after you invoke the extension.scripting: Allows SnapSecure to inject the crop and annotation interface into the active tab on demand.clipboardWrite: Allows SnapSecure to copy the final screenshot to your clipboard when you click Copy.
SnapSecure does not request broad host permissions, storage permissions, downloads permission, tabs permission, or background access to all pages.
Third Parties
SnapSecure does not use third-party SDKs, analytics providers, advertising networks, cloud storage providers, or external APIs.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
SnapSecure uses browser and extension APIs only to provide user-facing screenshot capture, cropping, annotation, saving, and copying. Data handled by SnapSecure is not transferred to others, used for advertising, used to determine creditworthiness, or used for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose.
